Saturday Workshops & Activities
Saturday, August 3
Location: Irvine Stake Center 23 Lake Rd. Irvine California 92604 Map
Saturday Day is the perfect mix uplifting and inspiring speakers & workshops, large & small group activities, and lots of “You Pick” Speaker Workshops & Activity Options to personalize your conference experience. Whether you want to attend multiple workshops to expand your personal knowledge, or are looking for more activity based opportunities, we have you covered. With both large group and small group activities, you will have the opportunity to mix and mingle and build deep connections with fellow singles.
Kick off the morning with a Continental Breakfast and Morningside Scripture Study with President Dan Fuller. President Fuller’s teaches our single adult institute class every Thursday night and his deep-doctrinal lessons are absolutely riveting. He’s well-worth waking up a little early for an incredibly insightful experience where you will find yourself contemplating the scriptures on a whole new level. Grab something to eat from our Continental Breakfast Bar and bring your scriptures to an intellectually challenging and uplifting scripture study session!
At 10:00 AM join us in the chapel for our Keynote Speaker Tyler J. Griffin. An associate teaching professor in Brigham Young University’s Department of Ancient Scripture and a highly popular BYU Education Week Speaker, Brother Griffin holds a Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering and Master’s and Doctorate degrees in instructional technology. He taught in the seminaries and institutes for fifteen years, where he also trained potential seminary teachers and developed an online home study seminary program. Tyler cofounded and co-directs the BYU VirtualScriptures.org Group, which produces immersive digital learning tools for enhancing scripture study and is the author of critically acclaimed “When Heaven Feels Distant” and co-author of “Millions Shall Know Brother Joseph Again” & “Come Unto Me.”
After our Keynote address, we will be splitting into Small Group Rotations, led by fellow singles, where you will have the opportunity to get to know your fellow conference attendees, engage in a group discussion and participate in some interactive activities. You will be rotating twice, giving you the opportunity to meet and connect with more singles at the conference.
After a Catered Lunch, it’s time to start personalizing your conference experience. Pick from a variety of topics and speakers for Round 1 of the “You Pick” Speaker Workshops (topics and speaker bios can be found on the speakers page & in the brochures given out on Saturday morning). After Round 1 of Workshops, you can either go to more “You Pick” Speaker Workshops for the rest of the day, OR choose to attend a “Smaller Group Activity.” You will make your personal selections during the registration process.
Smaller group activities are an awesome way for you to have interact with singles while having fun trying something new! Bonding over new experiences or common interests is how great friendships are made. Space is limited in each activity, so it is EXTREMELY important that you COMMIT TO ATTEND the Small Group Activity you sign up for, as it will withhold a spot from someone else.
If you aren’t 100% sure what you want to do, make your best guess and change it later if you need to. If you need to change your Smaller Group Activity selection before the conference, you can change it yourself at any time by logging into RegOnline to update your sign-ups. However, the later you change your sign-ups, the fewer options you will have as activities will fill up. The sooner you make changes, the better the chance you have at reserving a spot in your favorite smaller group activity. Print out your conference ticket which will list your Conference Sign-Ups as a reminder, or you can always view your ticket as part of your confirmation email. All activities (Free & Fee Based) will have a Host to meet you on-site at the activity locations.
